Can Tho University’s Professor Nguyen Van Thu, led a training workshop in livestock emission measurement for scientists from Laos, Cambodia and The Philippines. The workshop, in association with Dr. Chu Manh Thang from NIAS and Prof.Dr. Roger Hegarty from New Zealand, was conducted as part of New Zealand’s efforts to develop Vietnam as a measurement hub for the ASEAN region.
Participants worked through the principles and practices of measurement and got hands-on experience with the cattle respiration head-chambers at the College of Rural Development of CTU (pictures). The training activity will help to improve the accuracy of estimates of regional greenhouse gas emissions from cattle and buffalo and pave the way for studies to mitigate emissions from this important agricultural sector.
